At FoCo Cafe, we consider Valentine’s Day as “Friends Day.” Our goal is to make sure that everyone has a place to be where they feel welcomed, accepted, supported and loved. This Valentine’s Celebration was a wonderful day and we shared 82 meals with friends!
On this special day we offered other fun activities:
- A card making station
- Mad libs for kids
- Photo booth
- Free gifts that one could take for themselves or share with others: tea candles, fortune cookie cards and decorated cards.
On the eve of the celebration, interns decorated the entire block outside of the Cafe with chalk art. The chalk ranged from red shaped hearts to inspiring quotes to 3D chalk art. We wanted the block to feel inviting and uplifting. Several City of Fort Collins staff members stopped to tell us that they loved the chalk art and that it made their walk to work a happy one. We saw photos from the sidewalk on Instagram accounts of people dropping in for lunch or just walking by. Guests will “Walk through Kindness” to get to the Cafe until snow or rain returns, and we hope for much longer than that.
Every human being is worthy and important. We seek to make sure that they feel this and know this.
